‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the barn
We were feeding the animals their hay, oats and corn.
“They are happy,” I mused, “with food for the day.”
And I wondered if I shouldn’t be more that way.

‘Twas the day after Christmas
And hey, I don’t care,
The kids are all gone
Least I got back my chair.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, the tree is aglow
I can’t help but wish for some new fallen snow
The kids are excited they can’t get to sleep
Hoping Santa will get here, their wishes to keep
‘Twas the night before Christmas, peace and quiet abound
The new fallen snow, left a blanket of white around
The church bells rang out, echoing loud and clear
The Christ Child is here, we now have nothing to fear
‘Twas the night before Christmas, I had overspent once more
An answer came ringing, but not a knock at the door
Rachel from Credit Card Services called, her voice sounded nice
But alas I hung up, without thinking twice
‘Twas the night before Christmas, a time to reflect
What in life is important, what to accept, what to reject
In the spirit of Christmas, I’ll take peace on earth
Celebrating each day with love and mirth

Another night at the home, the visitors gone,
All the hallways are quiet, the shades have been drawn.
The residents are each settled in their beds
Mem’ries of Christmases replay in their heads.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when down in the barn,
I heard there’s a tale, a story, a yarn;
“Get your chores done by midnight, better not gawk,
Tonight is the night, the animals can talk.”
