Cinnamon-Chip Scones

    Ingredients:

    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 3 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
    • 1/2 cup cold butter
    • 2/3 cup cinnamon baking chips
    • 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream, divided
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
      • Directions:

        1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
        2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
        3. Stir in baking chips.
        4. Whisk 1 cup cream and egg; stir into crumb mixture just until moistened.
        5. Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead 10 times.
        6. Pat into a 9-inch circle.
        7. Cut into 12 wedges.
        8. Separate wedges and place on a greased baking sheet.
        9. Brush with remaining cream.
        10. Combine coarse sugar and remaining cinnamon; sprinkle over tops.
        11. Bake at 400° for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown.
        12. Serve warm.
        13. Yield: 1 dozen.
