Dairy farmers from Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio have started a federal lobbying effort to call for changes in the milk pricing system and demand that the USDA enact provisions in the farm bill that will help farmers.

Grain farmers are cautiously optimistic about the outlook for 2021, following a strange 2020. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Prospective Plantings report, released March 31, said corn planted in 2021 is estimated to be about 91.1 million acres, up less than 1% from 2020. Soybean acreage is expected to be about 87.6 million acres, up about 5% from last year.

Before the results could be substantiated and debated, the findings were released that 17 percent of children who spent more than 30 hours a week in child care were rated as aggressive.
