Rhubarb Cake (Old Family Recipe)

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 s brown sugar
    • 1/2 shortening
    • 1 egg
    • 1 milk with 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 2 s flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 s raw rhubarb, chopped fine
    • Topping:
    • 1/2 sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg, milk, baking soda, flour and salt; mix well. Stir in rhubarb. Pour batter into greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350° 45 minutes.
